FUJIFILM UNVEILS ITS FIRST PORTABLE FLAT PANEL DETECTOR

Shows AAOS attendees how to make an easy transition to digital with FDR D-EVO

New Orleans, LA –March 11, 2009 - FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc. is demonstrating the FDR D-EVO*, its new flat panel DR cassette, at the 2010 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) annual meeting. Ideal for any orthopaedic office, the FDR D-EVO uses an innovative new technology to provide clinicians with Fujifilm’s trademark image quality and outstanding flexibility. The FDR D-EVO’s lightweight design provides clinicians the ability to image joints, bone and soft tissue with results in just seconds.

D-EVO is a smart and convenient way for orthopaedic practices to transition to DR because it requires no modification to the existing radiographic room. The FDR D-EVO complements current x-ray systems within the orthopaedic practice by providing a portable flat panel detector to capture high-quality digital images. The lightest-weight 14” x 17” DR cassette available today, the FDR D-EVO provides portability to address lateral or other cassette-based exams as needed, even in existing DR rooms.

Orthopaedic practices will also benefit from Fujifilm’s unprecedented image quality. It has been noted to improve diagnostic confidence in environments where visualization of fine details is required, such as extremity exams which require the ability to see fine bone and soft tissue detail. Additionally, Fujifilm employs its own patented ISS (Irradiation Side Sampling) technology to increase image sharpness and offer better edge enhancements, resulting in consistent, high quality digital images and increased diagnostic confidence.

“We developed a portable DR cassette-based solution tailored to meet the unique imaging needs of the orthopaedist with outstanding flexibility, speed and value,” says Eddie Massetti, Fujifilm’s Marketing Manager, and Specialty Markets. “With the light weight FDR D-EVO, exams can be completed swiftly with Fujifilm’s extraordinary digital image quality for diagnostic confidence.”

The FDR D-EVO is the latest addition to Fujifilm’s impressive line-up of groundbreaking DR products. Other distinct advantages of the system include its use of secure network connectivity to transmit images to the technologist’s workstation in only 5 seconds, with cycle times of only 9 seconds.

Additionally, it includes a detachable cord that provides numerous benefits including:

  • Easier re-positioning of the panel in the radiographic table or wall stand.
  • Elimination of battery life concerns.
  • Increased safety by reducing the potential trip hazards of a tethered cord.
